It features racing-inspired details and packs a total of 122 horsepower beneath the hood.
The Lada Niva showcased here remains quite close to the original model introduced all the way back in 1977. It holds the distinction of being the longest-serving new vehicle available for purchase. Additionally, they've just released a Sport variant. This edition was announced towards the end of last year and is set to arrive at European dealerships soon, with an entry-level cost of around $19,600. Of course, purchasing one in the U.S. is not possible since it’s unavailable there.
However, we aspire to do so. This compact classic 4x4 comes equipped with numerous enhancements for the Sport model, most notably a significant boost in power output. To put things into perspective, although this figure remains modest, it represents a substantial improvement compared to the former engine’s 83-horsepower delivery. Despite these advancements, it still requires close to 12 seconds to hit 60 miles per hour.

It employs a constant 4x4 system complemented by a transfer case for navigating trails slowly when needed. Additionally, it rides slightly higher than its standard counterpart.
Inside, the space isn’t entirely outdated. The Niva Sport incorporates stylish enhancements from the Niva Legend, such as heated front seats, power-adjustable mirrors, and air conditioning. Unique additions for the Sport model include distinctive trim on the seats and a sportier steering wheel.
Ladas have never been marketed in North America; however, they can be found in various parts of Europe. They are particularly prevalent in Russia, which is somewhat ironic as they would not fall under any specific regulations here. Trump's tariffs Should someone from the United States genuinely desire one then? This raises the question: Would you be willing to spend $19,600 for an off-road ready Lada featuring a sporty redesign?
